2 Kings-16,17 “This is what the LORD says: Make this valley full of ditches. 17 For this is what the LORD says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink.
I would like to give you a brief introduction about this portion. The King of Israel is going for a war against Moabites who were a strong nation and if we examine the scripture closely we can find that the Moabites were always rebellious against the children of Israel. The King of Israel found that he could not fight them single handedly so he asked help from two other Kings and they went together against Moabites, and took a long route which took seven long days to reach near Moab through the Desert of Edom. There they face a situation where there is no water to drink for the people and the animals. They were in the midst of a perishable situation and they seek help from God.The above portion is the answer God gives to their situation through the Prophet Elisha. The super natural hands of God working a miracle for the children of God based on their obedience.
For a child of God there is always a force that’s rebellious against our total spiritual ,physical and emotional well being. In this twenty first century we are not able to recognize many of these rebellious forces that fight against us. It could be the things that take our most precious time of worship and prayer . It could be the things, thoughts, events that trigger our emotions and lead us to anger . Sometimes could be an un forgivable attitude towards certain people who have hurt us.It could be a desperate needs of our life , that we are not able to attain even after lots of hardships.Sometimes could be the forces that prevents us from our spiritual growth. What ever it may be our Almighty God wants his children to be successful and live life to their fullest potential. He have a plan to bless you.
When we read 2 kings chapter 3 we can understand that the King of Israel went to war without asking God for guidance or his plan for the children of Israel. He did things according to his wisdom. But we can understand that his plan was poor and short sighted. He did not see the short comings in the route he took. He did not see the desert ahead , or maybe he thought they could survive it with what they had. Being the children of God we need to understand that, Gods plans are the perfect ones and before we take any decisions in our life we need to ask His guidance. When they face the thirst and heat of the dessert they are seeking Gods face. If we go close to our Father in heaven , he is always willing to open us ways and plans he have in store for us, ignoring our past due to his unconditional love.
God asks them to dig ditches in that valley and he also says you wont see wind or rain.I was surprised about that, digging ditches in a valley and, that too when the people were extremely tired without water and food in a desert. It requires lot of physical strength and above all there was no motivation to do it, no wind and rain. If they saw some clouds or a wind they would have, had a hope that there is going to be a rain and the ditches we dig will get filled and ,we get sufficient to drink from it and, thereby we can stand against the enemy. But here God wanted them to trust in him fully , a total obedience to what God said to them through the prophet Elisha .In the midst of troubles in our life when there is no hope we are unable to trust God fully. An act of faith when their was no strength to proceed , our Father looks for total trust.A valley filled with water without rain, a miraculous work of God for those who obey God. And One more thing that interested me was ignoring your present situation if you dig more the amount of water that flows into the ditch that you made out of faith will be more. The blessing that we receive from God is proportional to the depth of our execution of faith.
2 Kings- 22″ And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:” The above verse shows us that when God does his miracle the people of Moab mistakes water as blood because they have never seen water in that valley which was dry before. And they didn’t see the rain or the wind , so it didn’t occur in their mind that it could be water.Gods plan is not to keep you dry always, he wants you to be growing and fruitful. When God pours His blessing in our life, it will be in abundance that no eyes will be able to believe it. God have a plan to bless you. The life giving water for a child of God proclaim death to all the plans, Satan had to hinder our blessings. So trust in the God and dig the ditches of faith, in your life till you have the abundance he promised for your life.
In Christ Jesus,
